Vestal Virgins First Look
The journey of the Vestal Virgins continues! In May, I was a part of the next installment of the development process of Vestal Virgins by Talia Frank-Stempel. We partnered with Green Lung Studio and Quick & Dirty Theatre Company to present a staged reading of the play so far. Official copy here:
"In ancient Rome (with a contemporary twist), four girls are chosen to serve as Vestal Virgins—tasked with keeping the sacred flame of Vesta alive by preserving their chastity. They live in rare independence, revered as symbols of purity and power. But with that honor comes a brutal price: if they break their vows, they’re buried alive.
Darkly funny, deeply human, and blasphemously bold—Vestal Virgins rips the veil off one of history’s most misunderstood sisterhoods.”
It’s been a joy to continue this collaboration, and I look forward to seeing where the play goes next! Photos by Annie Martino and Stepan Liubimov. xo
